Liquid Glass Production Process

The primary method of manufacturing liquid glass consists of two main stages:
Silicate Lump
Production of water-soluble alkaline silicates (silicate lumps) in a glass-melting furnace.
Liquid Glass
Autoclave dissolution of the resulting silicate lumps to produce the final product — liquid glass (soluble glass).

STAGE 1

Production of Water-Soluble Alkaline Silicates
(Silicate Lump) in a Glass-Melting Furnace
Batch Mixing
Quartz sand of a specific grade is mixed with soda ash ($Na_2CO_3$) or potash ($K_2CO_3$), depending on the type of alkaline silicate required. They are combined in precise proportions to create the batch (raw mix).
Next, the batch is transported to the glass-melting furnace. During this stage, moistening occurs to form a film of alkaline compounds on the surface of the quartz grains.
Heating
The batch enters the glass-melting furnace, where silicate formation occurs under high temperatures (up to 1400°C), followed by the creation of the silicate lump.
Silicate Lump Production
The silicate melt is then transferred to a conveyor for primary cooling and transported to the warehouse for final cooling and packaging of the finished product — silicate lump.

STAGE 2

Autoclave Dissolution of Silicate Lump
Preparation
The finished silicate lump is loaded into autoclaves. The required amount of water is added, the temperature is raised above 100°C, and pressure is increased to 5.5–6 atmospheres.
Lump Dissolution
The dissolution process begins within the autoclave, transforming the lump into the final intermediate — liquid glass. The specific parameters of the resulting liquid glass are then adjusted to the required levels in separate holding tanks. After this, the product is ready for sale.

Quality Standards and GOST Regulations at STEKLOLUX

The production of sodium liquid glass at the STEKLOLUX enterprise in Uzbekistan is carried out in accordance with the intergovernmental standard GOST 13078-2021, which is officially adopted within the Republic of Uzbekistan.
This standard regulates key physicochemical parameters of the product, including density and the silicate modulus, stipulating a production modulus of no less than 2.3.

In cases where a customer's technological processes require low-modulus liquid glass or non-standard specifications, STEKLOLUX manufactures products according to Technical Specifications (TS). These TS are developed and applied in Uzbekistan to meet specific industrial tasks and application areas.

For potassium liquid glass, the regulatory framework is GOST 18958-73 — an intergovernmental standard for silicate paints, which serves as an industry-standard regulatory document in Uzbekistan. It establishes requirements for silicate binders and quality control methods.

If potassium liquid glass is produced for other applications (outside the paint and coatings industry), this GOST serves as the methodological and analytical foundation, while the actual production follows STEKLOLUX Technical Specifications, tailored to the customer's specific production needs.

For mixed (combined) silicate glasses, there are no dedicated state or intergovernmental GOST standards. In such instances, STEKLOLUX operates exclusively under its own Technical Specifications, ensuring precise parameters (silicate modulus, density, chemical composition) that align with the customer’s technological requirements and production specifics.

Quality Control Processes at STEKLOLUX Manufacturing

One of the core advantages of STEKLOLUX is our structured system of customized industrial production, specifically tailored to the unique technological processes of each client. Quality control begins at the initial project definition stage: a personal technologist is assigned to every customer to analyze the product’s application environment and specific requirements for the silicate modulus, density, and other critical parameters.

Throughout the production process, the technologist supervises the release of each batch, monitoring the liquid glass for strict compliance with the specified characteristics.

This approach ensures consistent performance indicators, batch-to-batch quality reproducibility, and full product alignment with the customer's requirements and the regulatory documentation effective within Uzbekistan.

a liquid glass manufacturer?

Key factors to consider when selecting a liquid glass supplier

In addition to fundamental factors — such as company reputation, production capacity, technical infrastructure, and pricing — it is crucial to consider several practical aspects that directly impact the final efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the product for your manufacturing process.
  • Logistics

Liquid glass is an industrial product with relatively narrow margins, meaning logistics costs can account for a significant portion of the total supply cost.

STEKLOLUX structures its supply chains based on the client's geography and consumption volumes. Our production and logistics capabilities within Uzbekistan allow us to minimize transportation expenses, reduce lead times, and ensure consistent shipping stability for industrial customers.
  • Packaging and Storage

When stored in sealed, inert containers at temperatures above freezing, liquid glass can maintain its properties for an extended period. However, exposure to sub-zero temperatures will cause the product to solidify.

Since freezing and subsequent thawing can result in a partial loss of functional properties, STEKLOLUX places a strong emphasis on container selection, storage conditions, and transportation recommendations tailored to each client's specific needs.
  • Trial Batches

The most reliable way to ensure that liquid glass is suitable for your specific technological processes is through practical product testing.

STEKLOLUX offers the option to produce a trial batch with customized parameters, allowing the customer to verify the product's performance under real production conditions.

Following the test results, STEKLOLUX technologists can adjust product characteristics if necessary to achieve optimal alignment with the requirements of your specific technological process.
If you are looking for a reliable and proven manufacturer of liquid glass and silicate products—one that is ready to provide a customized approach to every order—choose STEKLOLUX.
